Privacy Policy - PaySplitter

1. Overview & Scope

Welcome to PaySplitter (“we”, “our”, or “the app”), developed by Adarsh Patil. PaySplitter is an expense tracking and shared bill settlement application designed to help friends, roommates, and travel groups split costs easily.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, store, protect, and handle your information in accordance with Google Play Developer Policies and global data privacy standards.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect data strictly necessary to provide expense splitting and account synchronization:

Account Information: When you register or sign in via Google Sign-In or email, we collect your display name, email address, and unique user identifier (Firebase UID).
Profile Photos (Optional): If you choose to set an avatar, the selected image is stored to identify you within your expense groups.
Expense & Group Records: Group titles, expense amounts, categories, timestamps, split ratios, and member lists are stored so that balances sync across devices.
UPI & Payment Identifiers: Your Virtual Payment Address (UPI ID) may be stored if you provide it to facilitate peer-to-peer settlement deep-linking with other group members.
Notifications & Diagnostics: Device notification tokens and timestamps are processed to send bill reminders and settlement alerts.

Note on Financial Data: PaySplitter NEVER collects, stores, or accesses your bank account numbers, passwords, PINs, debit/credit card numbers, or CVVs. Payments are completed externally via standard UPI intent handoff to your chosen banking app.

3. How We Use Your Data

To synchronize group expenses, settlements, and member balances across devices.
To construct deep links (such as upi://pay) enabling fast peer-to-peer debt settlement.
To send in-app and local scheduled reminder notifications before trips or pending settlements.
To authenticate your identity and protect against unauthorized group modifications.

We do NOT sell, lease, or monetize your personal or financial data to advertising networks or data brokers.

4. Third-Party Services

PaySplitter integrates with industry-standard third-party providers:

Google Firebase Authentication: Used for secure user login and token management (Firebase Privacy Policy).
Google Cloud Firestore: Used for encrypted real-time cloud data storage (Google Cloud Privacy Notice).
Google Sign-In: For 1-tap single sign-on (Google Privacy Policy).

5. Account & Data Deletion

In compliance with Google Play User Data and Account Deletion Policies, users have full control to permanently delete their account and associated personal data at any time.

How to Delete Your Account

Option A: In-App Instant Deletion

Open the PaySplitter mobile app → Open the Profile Drawer → Tap Privacy Policy → Tap Delete Account → Re-authenticate and confirm. Your user profile, personal data, and login credentials are permanently deleted from Firestore and Firebase Authentication immediately.

Option B: Web-Based Deletion Request (Without App Installed)

If you no longer have access to the app, you can submit a manual deletion request by sending an email with your registered email address to our support team:

Deletion requests sent by email are verified and processed within 7 business days. All associated personal profile records and authentication tokens will be permanently scrubbed.

6. Security & Data Retention

Encryption in Transit: All communications between the PaySplitter application and cloud servers utilize TLS 1.3 / HTTPS encryption.

Retention Policy: We retain your expense data for as long as your account remains active. When you delete your account, your user credentials and profile records are erased. Anonymized expense entries inside shared groups may be retained solely to maintain historical balance calculations for remaining group participants unless specifically requested.
